IBDP Core

THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE (TOK)

The Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course is a core element of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) that focuses on critical thinking and reflecting on the nature of knowledge, rather than on learning a specific body of knowledge. It requires at least 100 hours of class time and aims to encourage learners to explore the question "how do you know?" in various contexts to develop a lifelong interest in knowledge.

EXTENDED ESSAY (EE)

The extended essay is a mandatory, externally assessed academic writing piece of up to 4,000 words, which requires independent research on a topic chosen by the learner. It is designed to encourage high-level research, writing, intellectual exploration, and personal discovery. learners receive guidance and support from a supervisor and are required to undertake three mandatory reflection sessions, including a short interview, after completing the essay.

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

Creativity, activity, and service (CAS) is a fundamental aspect of the DP that promotes personal and interpersonal learning through its holistic approach. CAS consists of three strands: creativity, activity, and service. CAS experiences can be a single event or a series of events, while CAS projects are collaborative series of sequential experiences lasting at least one month. Both singular and ongoing experiences are valuable, but a meaningful CAS programme requires at least one CAS project.
