Pre-Primary sports day
The lines from our school song “We forge ahead willful and strong, aiming the path of excellence with dignity and confidence” reverberated in our minds and hearts on January 16, 2020 during the Pre-primary Annual Sports Meet 2019-2020 held at Dahisar Sports Foundation Ground. The event began with prayers and singing of the National Anthem by our young learners, followed by the lighting of the torch and our Director Principal – Mrs Debika Chatterji declaring the sports meet open. We had two chief guests, Mrs. Rakhee Sunil, the President of the Rotary club of Mumbai in Borivali East and Mr. Kuntal Joisher, an accomplished mountaineer and acclaimed computer science professional who graced the occasion with their wonderful thoughts and encouragement for all our learners. The Senior Kg learners then did a grand March Past to mark the beginning of the evening. There were an array of displays and races by our learners showcasing their learning at school in Physical Education and Gymnastics. The gymnastic skills were shown in progression where nursery learners did yoga asanas, Junior kg learners displayed different rolls and formations and the Senior kg learners took it a notch higher by forming various pyramids, going from 2 to 3 tier layers. The flexibility, listening skills, focus, coordination and endurance level of learners left us all spellbound. Few learners from each grade also shared their thoughts about cheering and encouragement with the parents in different languages. The Physical Education displays started with Pre-nursery where the learners enthralled everyone with animal movements to the beat of the song, “Act like you are in the zoo.” The Junior Kg learners put up a fantastic parachute display which mesmerized the audience with skills shown to perfection. And the Senior Kg learners did a hula hoop display forming the Olympic rings while coordinating and collaborating with their peers with enthusiasm. The parents experienced the fun and thrill too by participating in a few races organized by the sports instructors. The Sports Day was truly an exciting and captivating evening where parents, teachers and learners all came together to celebrate sportsmanship and fitness skills and understand the importance of physical education in building holistic education. Here’s a glimpse of the active and skillful day!
