Mumbai food festival 18-19 – Junior Kg

The Mumbai Food Festival day was a befitting culmination to our Junior Kg thematic unit “Communities around us”, where we partnered with our parents to give learners a taste of beautiful delicacies the city has to offer. It was truly a community affair as parents from different communities and divisions came together to put forth this event. It was one of the best examples to showcase “Unity In diversity” to our learners.

The room was all set with tables loaded with food, tastefully decorated. One had to ring a brass bell before entering the room. Those who stole the show were our very own JBCN Junior Kg Mommies, all decked up in their chef attires and smiles on their faces, as they welcomed us all with a song which gave us the idea of the menu for the day. They sang, “Mai to raste se jaa raha tha, mai toh bhel puri kha raha tha, tumko accha laga to bell bajao”. They sang the same verse using different food items prepared by them.

Learners were super excited on seeing their parents at school. They were served lip smacking bhel puri, mouth watering pav bhaji – the aroma of which wafted in the entire room and not to forget – yummilicious batata vadas. The mommies even catered to the Jain learners by serving them Jain bhel puri, banana vadas and Jain pav bhaji. Without desserts the menu would have been incomplete. So to give learners a taste of their culinary skills and pamper their taste buds, our Mommies whisked a Falooda which was a superb treat. The learners thanked their parents for the yummy treat by singing the Punjabi song which they learnt during this unit by slightly tweaking it “Meri maa, meri pyaari maa, tenu zada pyaar kara”.

Thank you dear parents for removing time from your busy schedule and putting in effort in cooking such lovely dishes and serving our learners. Each dish was priceless as it exuded the warmth and love that went into making it.
