The Rakesh Jhunjhunwala – Pinky Dalal Scholarship for Academic Excellence is a merit-based scholarship in Mumbai for learners entering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or Cambridge AS & A Levels at JBCN campuses. Parents often search for the best IBDP scholarships in Mumbai and A Levels scholarships in India, and this award is designed to meet that aspiration.
Both internal and external learners may apply.
1. Internal JBCN learners in Grade 10 may apply through their IGCSE / IBDP / A Levels Coordinator.
2. External learners from other schools may apply when seeking admission to JBCN’s IBDP or A Levels programmes, and must connect with the Admissions Team for the application process.
Internal JBCN learners must follow the process outlined in the school circular and apply through their IGCSE / IBDP / A Levels Coordinator. External learners must approach the JBCN Admissions Team, who will provide the application form, eligibility details, and guidance through the evaluation process.
All applicants undergo the Scholarship Evaluation Process, which generates a Composite Evaluation Score (CES). This includes online tests, essay writing, panel interviews, teacher recommendations, and the most recent summative or board exam results as applicable. A minimum CES of 80% is required to qualify.
Scholarships provide tuition waivers ranging from 15% to 80% depending on CES rank. If an internal JBCN scholarship awardee is also a school topper, they may receive an additional 20% waiver, allowing their award to reach up to 100%. The maximum overall allocation is capped as per the distribution framework.
The additional 20% waiver is reserved for JBCN Grade 10 school toppers (ICSE/IGCSE), regardless of whether they have applied for the scholarship. In case of ties, the waiver is shared equally. External learners are not eligible.
External learners are eligible only for the standard scholarship tuition fee waiver of 40%, 25% or 15% based on their CES rank.
If no learners are awarded the scholarship in a given year, the scholarship application window may reopen the following year for eligible Grade 11 learners.
The criteria for continuation into the second year are detailed in the JBCN Scholarship Policy. Scholarships may be revoked if learners do not adhere to the guidelines outlined. Internal learners should connect with their IGCSE / IBDP / A Levels Coordinator for guidance and information. External learners are advised to reach out to the JBCN Admissions Team for more details.
The Scholarship Evaluation Panel calculates the CES from the established evaluation components. Tuition-fee waivers are then allocated in line with the published scholarship distribution framework, under the oversight of the JBCN Board Members.
